Install VirtIO drivers for Windows Server 2019
In this article, we’re explaining how to install VirtlO drivers for Windows Server 2019.
Prerequisites
- VPS with Windows Server 2019 installed.
- You have to be logged in as an administrator.

Step 1: Log in with RDP into Windows Server 2019
Connect to your server with the login credentials which you can find in your client area.
Step 2: Downloading the Virtio Installer
Go to https://fedorapeople.org/groups/virt/virtio-win/direct-downloads/archive-virtio/
look for the most recent map. Click on the .exe file, this will start the download. After the download is done, click on it to run the application.
You will get a notification from Microsoft Defender, you can ignore this. To continue click on More Info
.
Then click Run Anyway
.
Accept the license terms and conditions and click Install
to proceed.
Click Yes
to allow the application to make changes to your device.
Step 3: Starting the Virtio Installer
Click Next
to continue.
Accept the terms in the License Agreement and click Next
to continue.
In this menu, you can choose if you want to install the feature and where you want them to be installed. In this case, we’re keeping it how it is. Click to Next
continue.
Click Install
to start the installation of Virtio-Win.
After the download is done, click Finish
to finish the installation.
Restart your pc to use the software.
