Learn how to connect FTPS using Transmit

In this article, we will explain how you can connect to FTPS using Transmit. FTPS (also known as FTP over SSL) stands for File Transport Protocol Secure. FTPS  is a secure file transfer protocol that allows you to connect securely with your trading partners, customers, and users.

Prerequisites

Step 1: Install Transmit

Go to https://panic.com/transmit/#download and click on Download Transmit Now!.

Step 2: Turning on TLS v1.2 Encryption

Open Transmit and at the top left, click on Transmit. Then click on Preferences.

Choose the Advanced tab and click onAdvanced Server Settings.

Make sure that Use TLS v1.2 encryption is selected. If not, click on the selection-box to turn it on.

Step 3: Connect FTPS

Insert your credentials. Make sure that FTP with TLS/SSL is selected in tab Protocol and that the port number is 21 . Click Connect to make a connection to the server.

Step 4: Easy file transfer (optional)

To make the file transfer easier, click on the 4 squares at the right.

Click on the ‘earth’ button via the top left corner.

You will now see two ‘screens’ which makes it easier to transfer files from your own computer to the WebHost.
