Configure Return-Path for DirectAdmin emails

Introduction DirectAdmin return-path

The return-path is an important mechanism that is used to process bounces from your emails. If this is not configured correctly you will not receive bounce messages and some mail providers check if the from address is the same domain as the return-path.

Prerequisites:

  • Root access to DirectAdmin server

Step 1: Log in using SSH

You must be logged in via SSH as root user. Please read this article for instructions if you don’t know how to connect.

Step 2: Set Return-Path for DirectAdmin emails

Change the default “[email protected]” to your own email address

/usr/local/directadmin/directadmin set diradmin_envelope [email protected]
service directadmin restart
