What is IPMI?
IPMI is a hardware solution for controlling and managing your dedicated servers. It has great benefits compared to system diagnosis software. For example, IPMI gives you the ability to manage your dedicated server remotely regardless of where you are. This can be very handy when you have locked yourself, so a KVM over IP is a second door to enter your server safely. All of our dedicated servers include KVM to give you more control over your server.
Secure IPMI/iDRAC Interfaces
In the past, the IPMI / iDRAC interfaces on our dedicated servers were on a public-facing network interface. Since security is one of the aspects we value most, we have migrated the IPMI / iDRAC interfaces to a private network. With a major network design restructure and the implementation of a web proxy, all IPMI / iDRAC interfaces are now successfully migrated. Not only helps this secure our servers better, but it also aids in older implementations of the KVM console, which sometimes require older versions of browsers, older versions of Java or specific Java configurations.
Bear in mind that the IPMI / iDRAC resources are not meant to be used for day to day operations but are only meant as a fallback when normal services like SSH or RDP do not work for remote access.
