In this tutorial, we will learn how to connect Snel RDS environment from an Android device. Since Android devices are mobile, you can connect to your workspace anywhere and anytime. This tutorial should apply to all modern Android devices.
- A Snel Online Workspace account. If you do not have an Online Workspace account yet, you can order a Snel Online Workspace account on Snel.com.
- You will also need to have the Microsoft Remote Desktop application installed from Google Play Store.
Step 1 – Install Microsoft Remote Desktop App
If you still haven’t installed Microsoft Remote Desktop application from the Google Play store, you will need to do so to move forward with the tutorial.
To install Microsoft Remote Desktop, simply click on the link Remote Desktop on Google Play Store. Click on the Install button to install the application on your Android device.
Step 2 – Open Microsoft Remote Desktop App
Simply open the newly installed application in your Android device. You should see the following interface.
Step 3 – Add Remote Resources Feed
Click on the [+] icon top right and click on
Remote Resources Feed option.
On the next interface, enter the following web feed URL: https://connect.snel.com/RDWeb/Feed/webfeed.aspx and click on
Next button on the top right corner.
Upon successful verification of the web feed URL, it will ask to add a new user account. Under User Name drop-down, select
Add user account. A pop-up will appear asking your username and password. Provide the actual username and password of your Snel workspace and click the
Now, select the username you just created from the User Name drop-down and click on the
Save button on the top right corner. You will be automatically taken to Desktops interface.
Step 4 – Connect and start Remote Desktop session
If you have successfully added the RDS server, you should see a Desktop added into the list of Desktops on the main application interface.
To connect to the remote workspace, simply tap on the Desktop which we have added, you will see the message that the application is trying to connect to the remote workspace.
Step 5 – End Remote Desktop session
Once you are finished and wants to close your session, save all the work you have done. Now, click on the
Windows icon to see the start menu. Click on the topmost icon from the left sidebar. Click on the
Sign out button to close your session. This will ensure that no unsaved work will be lost if the node is under maintenance.
You can also disconnect the session without signing out. If you disconnect, you can continue where you left out in the last session. To disconnect the session, press the back button twice on your Android phone.
