When you’re setting up a data center for your business’ IT operations, there are a range of management tools you can take advantage of to make your life easier.
One of these is VMware, which helps you create virtualised solutions for your servers. If you’re looking at this, you might be able to take advantage of a new offering that combine these solutions with cloud management applications.
Dubbed VMware vCloud Suite 5.1, this includes what were previously offered as three separate products – vCenter Operations Management Suite 5.6, vFabric Application Director 5.0 and vCloud Suite 5.1 – as part of a single package.
What this might mean for your business is that you can get all the software tools to manage your data center in just one box. Information Week explained this should enable businesses to create virtual machines, perform cloud management tasks and take steps to improve performance and capacity management in the data center environment.
The news provider explained: “A software-defined data center is one where major changes and adjustments may be accomplished in live operations through rules and processes captured in software”.
Spokesman for Vmware Shahar Erez told the publication in an interview that one of the main purposes of this is to simplify and speed up the deployment of new applications in a virtualised environment.
For many firms, this is a very fragmented process at the moment, which can take weeks or even months. By utilising the tools contained in VMware vCloud Suite 5.1, the goal is for this process to be sped up.
“Every time you want to deliver software-as-a-service, you have to start from scratch,” it was noted, with businesses needing to evaluate servers, storage and networking requirements. But this is an issue that can be overcome with the new software that could make IT professional’s lives much easier.
